Concept project: Lantsa is a fictional magazine.

About Lantsa

Lantsa (the word is for a small motor launch, the boat that takes you the last stretch to an island) is a fictional independent magazine about slow travel across the Philippines and Southeast Asia by ferry, bus, train and on foot. It publishes long reads, short field notes and practical route guides.

This is a concept project

Lantsa is not a real publication. It is a portfolio piece by Christian Ibaoc, a web developer in the Philippines, built to show clients who need a content site (publishers, NGOs, tourism boards, brands with a blog) what a custom WordPress block theme can do when editors run it without a developer.

  • The writers, Mara Lacsamana, Joaquin Ybañez and Teodora “Teddie” Abuan, are fictional. Their pages use monograms, not photos of people.
  • The stories are samples written for this demo. The trips and the people in them are invented, and the times, schedules and fares on the departures board and in route guides are samples, not travel advice: a departure on the board may not run today. Check with the operator before you travel.
  • The newsletter box sends nothing. There are no comments and no ads.
  • No ferry line, bus company or rail operator is named in the stories or on the board, and no operator’s logo, livery or signboard is pictured. No story is sponsored.

What it shows

The front page is a port departures board: for each story, the time, the origin and destination, and how you travel. An editor fills those fields in the post screen, and the board, the story page and the search results all follow. The theme is plain WordPress: no page builder, no premium theme and no plugins.

The design, the icons and the theme are drawn and built for this site. Fonts are self-hosted. The site loads nothing from other websites.
